The self-realization reached at the end of the book made me realize I have been swimming upstream in my approach to a healthy mind & body my entire life. The framework, insight and guidance Dr. Garrin provides is pleasantly simple to consume and written in a manner that all readers can easily identify with. Overall it is fun to read and cleverly written.

PS- is it a coincidence the title of this book is pun on one of the most popular rock tunes of all time? Brilliant!

This book is really unlike anything you've ever read about diets and exercise.

I've been down the eat-less, exercise-more, you-just-need-to-have-discipline road before. And I've always been discouraged at the results - even if I get temporary weight loss, it's just that - temporary. Frustrating. Lots of self-flagellation - why can't I do this? <head-to-wall>

Dr. Garrin's approach is a breath of fresh air! I can really get to the bottom of what is holding me back, and take a whole new road to feeling better, not only physically, but feeling better about myself, too.

I'll still have to do the work, but it's going to be so much easier to get where I want to go - and stay there!
WOW! Finally, a "how-to" health book...but one that is NOT about "diet" or "exercise". Not at all! It's a book that leaves you feeling as though you can stop obsessing about the gurus of the social media age and, instead, become your own health motivation "guru". In fact, the book really made me pause to consider just how "magnetized" we are by the influencers in our news feeds. At some point, we've stopped looking inside and listening to our true passions and desires...and have unknowingly come to depend on someone else to dictate our health and wellbeing. This book inspired me to stop "scrolling" and start thinking about what fuels my "motivational machine". And the true beauty of the "Seven Selves" is that we can use them in virtually every aspect of our lives.

One thing is for sure There's no need to "look out there" for motivation when all we need is already "in here".
Dr. Garrin gets it. In his book, he strips away all the noises we hear about how best to do this and how best to do that. There are no lists of how to’s, no bullet items, no admonitions, no silly pictures, and no platitudes.

Reading Dr. Garrin’s gentle and persuasive thoughts, I remember a more authentic me, how I was before being bombarded with pervasive well- meaning articles about what each of us must do to function better.

I finish a chapter and let it sink in before moving to the next. It has begun to change me in a good way. I'm learning that my way is best for me, and am feeling good about that. This book is about self-awareness, taking back control, manifesting personal competence, individuality, 'fueling our own motivational fire', and it applies to many areas of life.

It’s healthy to be reminded that ‘this journey is mine’ and that ‘we can rely on our internal compass to dictate our journey’ in making healthy choices. These reminders throughout the book relieve my stress and put me in a better frame of mind to move forward with my health choices.

Very cool book! It's nice to read a different approach to getting healthy and excercising. It helped me to take a look within and discover what is going on mentally that holds me back from achieving my fitness goals. And really you can apply lots of this to other aspects of your life. Not a quick fix, but very motivational.
Joshua Garrin's book should be required reading by every health professional who wishes to engage and empower individuals to take control of their health. In addition, individuals that want to understand how true lifestyle changes can be made to improve their well-being will benefit from the Seven Selves Mapping. I have been in the wellness arena for over ten years and no one has made this journey so understandable as Joshua' does in the I-Way To Wellness. Once I started reading "I-Way to Well," I couldn't put it down. It has reminded me of how important it is to have a healthy regimen and fixed goals or aspirations to work towards. Evaluating the choices we make on a daily basis and finding what we need more or less of, are just some of the necessary steps to that process as a whole. The book has made me realize that being proactive in my lifestyle decisions, such as how I approach my workout routine, or how I maintain a healthy diet, can go a long way.
